My Changes Towards Reading
Ever since I began taking English 25, my attitude towards it has changed a lot. It has changed because before it was difficult for me to read English and understand it at the same time and now I can do both. Now when I read an article, book, or a magazine I pay more attention at the characters and at the main idea. I can distinguish between the main idea, and the supporting details. I also understand the vocabulary more, and how to analyze a book. At first my reading level was low because it was very hard for me to read fast and now my reading level is better. Taking this class has helped me in many ways. It interested me in books more because now I can understand them easier. In addition, my experience in this class is very pleasing because the teacher is trustworthy and has a great persona. Also, my classmates are easy to get along with and admirable. I would like to be in English 29 to improve my English skills even more.
The Bystander Effect
Many years ago, i had an experience of "The Bystander Effect". I was living in an apartment complex. One afternoon i went to outside to throw the trash away, when i saw two men fighting over a parking space. At first they were arguing, and then they started physically fighting. This situation frightened me a lot and i didn't know how to react, I wanted to stop them before anything worst happened. I thought about calling the police and I ran inside my apartment but on my way inside I ran into a neighbor and he said "Don't do anything". Afterwards, there was around 15 around them and none of them got involved. Finally, they stopped fighting and everyone went back inside their apartment. Fortunately, none of them got really hurt.

STRESS IS A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON HEALTH
Stress is the body's reaction to any change that require adjustment or response. The body reacts to these
changes physical, mental, or emotionally. For example, stress can make the person susceptible to mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. The body's ability to perform decreases considerably. People under stress often face difficulty in sleeping. They lose sleep and are unable to relax. Stress can also impair the immune system, it can make people more vulnerable to illness. Stress raises blood pressure and people can increase the risk of stroke and heart attack. Headache and diabetes are another negative effects of stress.
Although, stress is a negative condition that affect many people, it can be avoided by making exercises, by practicing yoga meditation, or in a severe condition by taking a doctor's help.

Self-Regulation
After a few
years of leaving college, last semester I returned, but it was a challenge for
me because I am a mother of 4 boys and 1 girl. Even though they are not kids
anymore they always need help on something and I need to do all the house
chores. It was difficult for me, but I pushed myself to keep going in
order to reach my goals. Now, in this semester, I need to organize myself to become
a better student. I am going to motivate myself by organizing my time to study,
so I can become a successful person. I will never forget my father’s words when
he said: “An educated person is a successful person” and “The best inheritance
a father can leave to their children is knowledge” because what he said is true.

My Reading History
My name is Adalinda, and I am from Guatemala, Central America. I remember when I was in Elementary School I liked to read, one of my favorite subject was Spanish and Grammar and I hated Math. I took English as a second language in my school, finally a got my High School diploma. My mother was a teacher and my father was a farmer. After work they enjoyed to read and I did too, but when I came to this country I knew that reading and writing English was going to be very difficult for me. At this time still is hard, because it is my second language and, sometimes is difficult for me to understand and analyze the lecture, especially when I do not understand a word.
